EGALiTE – European Group for Accreditation and Liaison of Blood Tissue and Cells Establishments
EGALiTE aims to promote the harmonization of practices among donation centres and blood and tissue establishments, to encourage sustainability and collaboration among stakeholders, and the implementation of strategies to improve accessibility and sufficiency of SoHO (Substances of Human Origin) at the European level.
To achieve these aims, EGALiTE has eight working groups (WP) covering the following aspects: management & coordination of the activities within the consortium (WP1), dissemination & communication (WP2), evaluation (WP3), integration and sustainability of EGALiTE (WP4), the European accreditation program itself (WP5), a database (WP6), contingency plans
(WP7) and the assistance mechanisms (WP8).
DGFG is part of the EGALiTE consortium and lead of WP6. We coordinate the design and implementation of a blood, tissues, and cell database, which will provide an overview of available resources and information related with the activities of procurement organisations and blood and tissue establishments in Europe. The IT system is intended to be used to design contingency plans and to promote the collaboration among professionals and Competent Authorities to ensure adequate supply of blood, tissues and cells in the member states.
EGALiTE started in May 2022 and is funded for 30 months with over 1.0 million Euro by the EU4 Health Programme (EU4H) of the European Union (project 101056852).
