I’m excited about the network. The DGFG provides personnel support and information on all issues. For example, the quality management helped us a lot with the applications to change the approvals. The network has enormous knowledge and experience and offers an excellent platform for an exchange with other tissue banks.
In 1999 the work of the corneal bank started at the University Hospital. Since 2015, the corneal bank at Heidelberg University Eye Hospital has been a Lions Eye bank. With the “Fight for Sight” program, Lions are committed to fighting preventable blindness. In 2018, the DGFG welcomed the Lions Eye Bank to its network.
Since 2018, the DGFG has also been supporting tissue donation at the University Hospital with DGFG coordinator Anna Rausch.
