Amniotic membrane
The amniotic membrane is the thin inner egg membrane of the amniotic sac, which envelops the embryo and fulfills important supply functions. It is obtained from the mother’s placenta. Due to its excellent wound-healing properties, the amniotic membrane can be used in various fields of medicine. Placental tissue is used in ophthalmology to supply the eye or in oral and maxillofacial surgery, for all types of severe wound healing disorders and for burns.
