A placenta donation is a living tissue donation. Prerequisites are the consent of the mother and a planned Caesarean section birth. Due to its excellent wound healing properties, the amniotic membrane can be used in various areas of medicine. Patients benefit from a gentle and fast healing method. The amniotic membrane is used, for example, in ophthalmology for the treatment of eye injuries or in oral and maxillofacial surgery, where it can be placed on larger wounds. The membrane consists of an epithelial layer, basement membrane and stroma and can be applied in two orientations.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>epithelial side<\/strong> faces the embryo. Its surface is smoother than that of the rougher <strong>stromal side<\/strong>, which faces the outer amniotic membrane. When the graft is delivered, the stromal side is positioned towards the support material as standard, while the epithelial side is open.<\/p>\n<p>The graft is delivered cryopreserved and should be allowed to thaw at room temperature for at least 30 minutes before use.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section><\/div><div  style='height:50px' class='hr hr-invisible   avia-builder-el-14  el_after_av_two_third  el_before_av_heading '><span class='hr-inner ' ><span class='hr-inner-style'><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div  style='padding-bottom:10px; '><section class=\"av_textblock_section \"  itemscope=\"itemscope\" itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/CreativeWork\" ><div class='avia_textblock  '   itemprop=\"text\" ><h3>Delivery within Germany<\/h3>\n<p>Delivery on dry ice usually takes place on the next working day. The transplant centre has to sign an acceptance commitment. When ordering amniotic transplants (Monday to Friday until 1.30 p.m.) there is usually no waiting time. The DGFG charges an expense reimbursement for the provision of the transplants and a fixed transport fee for the delivery. If several amniotic transplants are ordered, the fee for transport will only be charged once. On-site storage is possible. A separate permit is not required. Storage in a freezer of at least -60\u00b0C is required. Traceability must also be ensured during storage. It is not necessary to forward the patient data to the DGFG.<br \/>\n<br class=\"\u201cclear\u201c\" \/><\/p>\n<\/div><\/section><br \/>\n<section class=\"av_textblock_section \"  itemscope=\"itemscope\" itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/CreativeWork\" ><div class='avia_textblock  '   itemprop=\"text\" ><h3>International delivery<\/h3>\n<p>A transfer of amniotic transplants to international locations is possible if the import is approved and all necessary documents are available. The tissue allocation office and the quality management of the DGFG will help with the clarification and implementation.<br \/>\nThe delivery time for orders outside Germany is dependent on the distance and country-specific requirements. The DGFG makes every effort to keep waiting times as short as possible. For increased flexibility, it is possible to store several amniotic transplants on site in a suitable freezer (&lt; -60\u00b0C). The DGFG charges an expense allowance for the provision of the transplants and the transport costs for the delivery.<br \/>\n<br class=\"\u201cclear\u201c\" \/><\/p>\n<\/div><\/section><br \/>\n<section class=\"av_textblock_section \"  itemscope=\"itemscope\" itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/CreativeWork\" ><div class='avia_textblock  '   itemprop=\"text\" ><h3>Package leaflet<\/h3>\n<p>The &#8220;human amniotic membrane, cryopreserved, Schwerin&#8221; is delivered deep-frozen in a sterile container. It must be stored at temperatures below -60\u00b0C (freezer or on dry ice) until 30min prior to the surgery. The amniotic membrane has to be used within six hours after thawing and must not be refrozen once thawing has begun. The maximum storage time (with continuous temperature monitoring of the freezer) is 12 months from the date of manufacture and only if the amniotic membrane has been transferred to a suitable -60\u00b0C freezer in the sterile container immediately after receipt. The medicinal product is intended for single use only.
